In April, IMON INTERNATIONAL received an international rating of “A” from Microfinanza, a CGAP/World Bank certified rating agency. The rating means that IMON INTERNATIONAL is operating professionally, the risks are minimal and all activities are properly tracked and managed.
Our intention to be a leader, to take top-positions and to be always first in our professional sphere has been passed to the area of sport. For several years, our football team has been a winner in the annual football competitions among the teams of the banks and MFIs
Also during the quarter, Ms. Sanavbar Sharipova, General Director of IMON INTERNATIONAL successfully completed her one year internship and graduated from the Hubert Humphrey scholarship program at Michigan State University, USA. The purpose of the program was to provide executives from developing countries to obtain experience and exposure in the US marketplace, both from an academic and real-world perspective.
To improve the general work quality and to improve the qualifications of branch staff, the organization introduced a system of general testing. The first test was conducted in June, with 174 staff receiving passing scores. As a result of the testing, the Istaravshan branch received the award for the best knowledge of Policies and Procedures and for credit analysis skills. We congratulate the branch for an excellent job! That’s the way to go!
The Board of Directors of IMON INTERNATIONAL had its quarterly meeting on June 23 and 24, followed by the annual shareholders meeting. During the meeting, the Board took up strategic issues as well as reviewing reports from the audit, financial and operational divisions. In addition, the management presented a report on the influence of the global financial crisis on the current and future activities of the Organization.
On June 23, IMON celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the original program “Microloans in Tajikistan” the early predecessor to today’s IMON INTERNATIONAL. The celebration, held at the company’s new headquarters building, included memories of dates, people, events which led to where we are today. Many guests attending the celebration, including those who were instrumental in getting IMON off the ground, come from far away to congratulate us on this anniversary.
In the second quarter of 2009, “IMON INTERNATIONAL” was visited by several foreign stakeholders. On April 15, the Organization received a visit from Mr. Peter Bereschka from “Incofin” to conduct an evaluation of the activities of the Organization.
IMON INTERNATIONAL was also represented at the 12th MFC Microfinance Conference conducted from May 24-27 in Belgrade, Serbia. IMON was represented at the conference by the Manager of the Operations Department, Mr. Akbarov Bakhodur, who presented IMON at the conference and its impact on economic development and job creation in Tajikistan.
In May we also received guests from GTZ, AMFOT, EBRD, National Bank of Tajikistan and Government Officials from Sughd Province. The purpose of the visit was a study of the activities of MFIs and clients meetings. During the event the participants were presented with several presentations providing information on the activities of the microfinance sector in Tajikistan.
On May 20, IMON INTERNATIONAL held a regional meeting among its Northern Branches with over 30 employees participating from the branches in Khojand, Istaravshan and Isfara.
